Sands China Partners with Community for 'Clean the World' Initiative

In a remarkable display of community spirit and social responsibility, Sands China has banded together with over 330 volunteers from the University of Saint Joseph, the sustainability nonprofit Sustaincia, Oxfam in Macau, and the Youth Volunteers Association of Macao to assemble an impressive 30,000 hygiene kits. This year's effort took place on December 11, at The Venetian® Macao’s Cotai Expo, marking the twelfth year Sands China has participated in the Clean the World initiative.

The assembled kits are vital for families in need, especially those affected by emergencies. Of the 30,000 kits, 26,000 will be dispatched to the Philippines, while the remaining 4,000 will reach local NGOs in Macau and charitable institutions in Hong Kong. Each kit not only contains essential hygiene items like soap, shampoo, and dental products but also conveys messages of hope and support from Sands China.

“Sands China is honored to be the first integrated operator in Macau to partner with Clean the World,” stated Grant Chum, CEO and Executive Director of Sands China. Since 2014, Sands China has committed to this outreach program, demonstrating a consistent focus on providing assistance to both local and international communities. To date, the company has prepared over 415,000 hygiene kits, which play an essential role in preventing diseases and promoting sustainable practices.

Following guests' check-out from hotels, Sands China has developed a system to collect unused soaps, which are then recycled through Clean the World's process. The reused soap is sanitized and molded into new bars, effectively extending the lifespan of hotel supplies that would otherwise contribute to landfills. Each hygiene kit contains not only soap but a variety of essential items, such as shampoo, conditioner, bath gel, toothbrushes, and toothpaste, all packaged in a reusable non-woven bag.

Sands China's ongoing partnership with Clean the World is an integral part of their Sands Cares program, reflecting their approach to global corporate responsibility by fostering collaboration and community service. By engaging in this initiative, Sands China is actively contributing to both public health and environmental sustainability.
