Oceans Healthcare Welcomes Dr. David Rubin as Chief Medical Officer

Oceans Healthcare, a prominent behavioral health provider, has recently announced the appointment of Dr. David Rubin as the new Chief Medical Officer (CMO). This transition comes as Dr. James Butler steps down from the role to focus on his clinical practice and family commitments.

Stuart Archer, the CEO of Oceans Healthcare, had high praise for Dr. Rubin, recognizing him as a visionary leader and a passionate advocate dedicated to enhancing the quality of care. Archer expressed deep gratitude for Dr. Butler's exceptional leadership during his tenure as the first CMO, acknowledging his pivotal role in shaping the organization’s clinical programs.

Dr. Rubin arrives with a rich background in psychiatry, currently serving as the Director of the Division of Professional and Public Education at Massachusetts General Hospital. In addition to his role there, he is the executive director of the MGH Psychiatry Academy and the MGH Visiting Programs. His clinical experience is vast, particularly in handling severe psychopathologies such as treatment-resistant depression and anxiety disorders.

Reflecting on his new role, Dr. Rubin expressed his enthusiasm for the opportunity to lead efforts at Oceans Healthcare. He stated, "Every day, I’m inspired by the strength and courage patients exhibit in seeking help and treatment. I’m eager to build on Oceans Healthcare's strong foundation and lead efforts to expand access, elevate quality, and strengthen the support they provide to patients on their path to recovery."

Rubin also brings decades of medical and educational expertise, having served as an Assistant Professor of Psychiatry at Harvard Medical School. His insights have benefitted countless trainees during his tenure as the Director of Training in the MGH/McLean Child and Adolescent Psychiatry Residency program. He is a recognized lecturer, specializing in youth mental health topics such as pediatric depression and medical education pathways from student to post-graduate levels.

Since its inception in 2004, Oceans Healthcare has made significant strides in the behavioral health space, operating 48 facilities across nine states under its brands - Oceans Behavioral Hospital and Haven Behavioral Hospital. The organization prides itself on meeting high-quality performance metrics as outlined by the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) and The Joint Commission.

As Oceans Healthcare continues to evolve under Dr. Rubin's leadership, expectations are high for strengthening its mission to provide compassionate care and innovative treatment solutions to patients. Dr. Rubin’s addition is seen as a strategic move that not only ensures continuity in clinical excellence but also brings fresh perspectives crucial for enhancing patient care and outreach efforts on a national level.

This appointment marks a new chapter for Oceans Healthcare, promising a commitment to patient-centered care while addressing the growing demand for mental health services in today’s complex landscape.

In summary, the transition of leadership at Oceans Healthcare reflects the organization's dedication to continuous improvement and its focus on providing the highest quality of care for those in need, consistent with their mission of healing and long-term recovery.
