A New Era in Festival Fun: Floating Erasers
As summer approaches, Kishis Co., established in 1946 and based in Nagoya, Aichi, joins forces with Iwako, renowned for their unique "interesting erasers," to introduce a thrilling new product: the "Sukutte! Interesting Eraser Aquarium". Slated for release on May 21, 2025, this product is set to elevate the charm of summer festivals with a unique water-based game.
The innovative eraser floats on water, offering a fresh twist on traditional festival games like super ball scooping. Participants can use a scoop to catch floating marine life-themed erasers, including five types based on popular aquarium animals: whale shark, dolphin, sea otter, octopus, and pufferfish. With realistic designs and excellent erasing capabilities, these fun and functional erasers are sure to entertain children and please parents looking for educational toys.
Concept Behind the Product: Floating Ideas
The idea for the floating eraser originated from a desire to enhance play value. Iwako's developer, Mr. Iwami, was inspired while observing floating super balls and ducks during a festival. He envisioned how amusing it would be to have floating erasers, but faced challenges with traditional erasers that sink.
Reevaluating the materials was the first step. Under the guidance of the factory manager, experiments began to reduce the specific gravity of the erasers to achieve buoyancy. After numerous prototyping trials and setbacks, the breakthrough for floating erasers was finally realized, while maintaining the essential functionality of an eraser. This project signifies the team's dedication and labor, reflecting their passion in every floating eraser.
A Five-Year Journey: From Idea to Reality
Interestingly, the conception of this product began back in early 2020. Mr. Iwami approached Kishis Co. to explore the possibility of bringing this idea to fruition. Plans were set for a spring 2020 launch, but the COVID-19 pandemic disrupted events and festivals, resulting in a stall of the project.
Fast forward nearly five years, as festivals and local events began to regain momentum nationwide, Mr. Iwami and Kishis Co. decided it was time to convert the fun they couldn’t share back then into a product that could be enjoyed today. Thus, the refined version of the floating eraser is now set to hit the market.
About Iwako’s Unique Erasers
Founded in 1968, Iwako is celebrated for its imaginative and realistic erasers that depict everyday themes such as sushi, vegetables, and animals. Their whimsical designs, resembling real-life items, appeal to collectors and kids alike, thanks to their intricate, puzzle-like construction. Iwako's commitment to high-quality production is evident as they oversee the entire process from conceptualization to manufacturing within Japan, ensuring longevity and safety for children.
The impressive performance of their erasers is recognized, with an erasing performance rate of 87.7% against the JIS 6050 standard of 80%. This means that alongside being an exciting toy, the floating erasers function excellently as genuine erasers as well.
Elevating the Fun at Festivals with Kishis Co.
To complement the launch, Kishis Co. has introduced special festival-themed booths and goldfish bags for the floating erasers. Designed explicitly for the game, these booths not only enhance the overall event's atmosphere but also add an extra layer of excitement. Attendees can scoop their prizes and take them home in uniquely designed bags, preserving the joy of the game.
These items are intended to amplify the experience of "interesting eraser scooping" at any event, such as school functions, commercial exhibits, and local festivals, promising to turn each occasion into a memorable adventure.
In conclusion, Kishis Co. aims to spread happiness through engaging traditional games, and their latest product—"Sukutte! Interesting Eraser Aquarium"—is a testament to their innovative spirit.
