Get Practical with Our UX Design Workshop
As digital transformation reshapes businesses, the importance of user-centered design in system development and service creation stands paramount. Spice Factory, a leader in digital transformation support based in Minato, Tokyo, is hosting a hands-on workshop titled "Mastering UX Design Navigation" to equip professionals with the necessary UX design literacy needed in today’s market.
Workshop Overview
The UX Design Navigation Workshop aims to address common misunderstandings and setbacks in development processes, thereby enhancing overall development value. This foundational workshop will ensure participants gain essential insights into user perspective and how to apply them practically. Led by Akira Motomura, the Chief Design Officer for Spice Factory, this session will cover critical points in designing user experiences, including decisions on whether to insource or outsource design tasks.
Objectives
The workshop is designed with three key objectives in mind:
1.
Understanding Design Processes: Participants will learn to view design processes holistically, enabling timely decisions on whether to manage projects internally or rely on external designers.
2.
Incorporating Human-Centered Design: By embedding user perspectives into design processes, attendees will focus on minimizing setbacks and optimizing costs.
3.
Facilitating Communication: Participants will acquire a common language to enhance communication between designers and stakeholders, ensuring a smoother collaborative effort.
Context for the Workshop
The proliferation of digital technologies has made systems and services integral to both society and business. However, distinguishing features based solely on functionality or performance has become increasingly challenging. The key factor separating successful services from less effective ones is the capacity to provide valuable user experiences.
In light of this, our workshop will engage participants in practical exercises that emphasize a user-centered approach to design, enriching decision-making in system development and service creation through discussions and collaborative efforts.

Meet the Instructor
Akira Motomura, CDO of Spice Factory, has extensive experience in UI/UX development, having studied design in the United States. He has been instrumental in establishing and scaling design teams across various industries. His insights emphasize the critical need for user-focused design in successful system development.
In his own words, he states, “Many developers express concerns about delivering a solution that doesn’t resonate with users, primarily because user perspectives are often overlooked in early development stages. In an era where features and performance are insufficient for differentiation, providing value through user experience is vital.”
