Nikolai Sawyer brings over 20 years of experience in corporate law, banking, and financial services to the board. As a senior financial lawyer, Sawyer has honed expertise in regulatory strategy, risk management, and corporate governance. His extensive background equips him with the insights necessary to navigate the complexities of the energy sector.

On the other hand, Debra Symonette holds the position of president at Super Value Food Stores Limited and is a seasoned CPA with more than 25 years in financial leadership roles. Her vast experience spans areas such as accounting, auditing, and corporate governance. Notably, she also serves on the board of Commonwealth Bank, further showcasing her strong credentials in financial oversight.

Anthony Ferguson, the chairman of BGC, stated, “With these appointments, BGC continues to strengthen its governance as we progress as a fully Bahamian-led organization. Nikolai and Debra bring a wealth of legal, financial, and operational expertise that will support the company's performance and accountability in the long term.”

CEO Dareo McKenzie echoed Ferguson's sentiments, emphasizing the importance of these new board members in driving the company’s performance and reliability across the entire system. “This is a significant step in the ongoing evolution of BGC. I look forward to collaborating with the board to enhance our operational efficiency and ensure sustainability within our services.”
