ESTEVE CDMO Expands Global Manufacturing Footprint with Major Investment in China

ESTEVE CDMO Expands Global Presence

On October 22, 2026, ESTEVE CDMO announced a substantial investment of over $80 million to reinforce its manufacturing capabilities in China. This investment marks an important milestone in the organization’s strategy to expand its global manufacturing footprint, particularly in the Asian market. The new site is located in Shaoxing, where the establishment of three manufacturing facilities will enable a total production capacity of 250 m³. Moreover, more than 150 m³ is designated for future developments, potentially increasing total reaction volume to over 400 m³ depending on production demands.

Joan Petit, the president of ESTEVE CDMO, stated, "This investment is a critical step in our sustained growth and global manufacturing platform. By enhancing our presence in China, we are better positioned to serve our clients in Asia while leveraging the expertise of our global network. Our ambition is clear: to develop a world-class contract development and manufacturing business capable of supporting our partners worldwide. We are committed to making a difference for patients and contributing together to improve quality of life."

ESTEVE's history in China dates back to 2000, when the company established its first joint venture in the country. This long-term commitment underscores the organization’s dedication to the region. The recent expansion complements ESTEVE CDMO’s existing production network in Europe, America, and Asia. The diverse technologies offered, including spray drying and the production of highly potent pharmaceutical active ingredients, aim to meet increasingly complex requirements for small molecule active pharmaceutical ingredient development.

Francisco de Asís Benítez Salas, the Consul General of Spain in Shanghai, commented on the venture, saying, "It is a privilege to witness ESTEVE's unwavering commitment to China and the region. This investment exemplifies how long-term dedication, skills, and innovation can benefit the local community."

The design and operation of the Shaoxing facility take environmental, health, and safety aspects into account. The site received a 'Very Good' rating from the BREEAM certification, which signifies its performance in sustainable practices. Additionally, the project has been nominated for the BREEAM China Awards, underscoring ESTEVE's commitment to creating a positive impact, supported by its B Corp certification and dedication to high standards of social and environmental performance, transparency, and responsible business practices.

The ongoing development of ESTEVE CDMO's manufacturing platform solidifies the company’s capabilities, technology, and international reach, ensuring that it can meet the long-term needs of its pharmaceutical partners.
