Euphoria's Sgrum: Transforming Local Sports Activities
Euphoria, a forward-thinking sports tech company based in Chiyoda, Tokyo, has announced that its innovative management tool, Sgrum, is being implemented by the Kashima Sports Club, a non-profit organization responsible for overseeing the development of local club activities in Kashima City, Ibaraki Prefecture. This partnership aims to streamline operations for school sports activities, highlighting a significant transformation in the management of public junior high school clubs across Japan.
As part of a nationwide initiative to reform school sports clubs, this transformation is aimed at gradually transitioning activities from traditional school-operated clubs to local sports clubs and community instructors. The change reflects a broader movement that accommodates the specific needs and circumstances of local communities, ensuring that sports and cultural activities are well supported and fostered. This reform period, from 2023 to 2025, is seeing progressive changes driven by public bodies, including certain pilot projects designed to facilitate these local club activities.
In line with these developments, Sgrum has proven its effectiveness, already being adopted by over 30 municipalities nationwide as a management tool for overseeing tasks such as student roster management, communication with parents, schedule sharing, and fee management. With the ongoing reform in Kashima City focusing on weekend club activities, the city has designated a plan to eliminate weekend sports activities from the five public junior high schools by September 2025.
The Kashima Sports Club has embraced Sgrum since the early implementation of four regional clubs beginning in January 2025. The platform enables comprehensive management of communication among the Kashima Sports Club, the city, the junior high schools, instructors, and parents. By facilitating roster management and schedule sharing, Sgrum serves as a centralized operational tool designed to enhance efficiency in club operations.
Looking ahead, the plan is to expand the number of clubs utilizing Sgrum after April 2025, with a commitment to incorporating this management tool across all local clubs operated by the Kashima Sports Club.
