Bigo Live's Heartwarming Thanksgiving Campaign Delivers Meals to Families in Need

A Season of Gratitude

Thanksgiving is a time for gathering, sharing, and giving back. Recognizing the spirit of the holiday, Bigo Live has kicked off a heartwarming campaign titled ‘Home is Just a Stream Away’. This initiative, which takes flight from November 1st and runs till Thanksgiving Day on November 26th, emphasizes community and togetherness, providing meals to those who may be facing food insecurity.

Bringing People Together

The campaign is centered around the concept of inclusivity, emphasizing the importance of ensuring that no one is without a Thanksgiving meal. Bigo Live, a prominent global livestreaming platform, is committing $15,000 to the Union Station Homeless Services (USHS), the foremost social services provider in the San Gabriel Valley. This generous donation is projected to supply holiday meals for approximately 664 individuals.

According to data from USC Dornsife, nearly 25% of households in Los Angeles County deal with food insecurity. Bigo Live's partnership with USHS is a significant step toward alleviating this issue, particularly during a season focused on giving.

Engaging Livestream Activities

Throughout the month, Bigo Live creators will host themed streams that not only entertain but also inform viewers about the ongoing partnership and its goals. The aim is to inspire gratitude and encourage community participation, reinforcing the idea that everyone is welcome at the Thanksgiving table.

These livestreams are enhanced with Thanksgiving-themed virtual gifts, such as a special 'Turkey Gift', aimed at motivating the community to reach their 664-meal goal. Additionally, the campaign features weekly 'Giving Battles', where creators can compete to raise funds. The first of these battles took place on November 5, and more are lined up for November 12, 19, and a finale on Thanksgiving Eve.

Real-Time Donation Tracking

An official event page has been set up to spotlight the campaign’s progress, allowing viewers to see real-time updates on the total donations gathered for the meals. This feature not only fosters transparency but also gives participants a sense of involvement as they witness their contributions making a difference.

Katie Hill, CEO of Union Station Homeless Services, expressed excitement about the impact of this partnership, stating, "Their generous commitment will help bring thousands of people together for Thanksgiving and support our goal of feeding 6,000 neighbors." This sentiment encapsulates the essence of community support and collaboration—essentially a vision of everyone coming together to celebrate.

Meal Kits for Families

Families in need can easily access free meal kits within the San Gabriel Valley without signing up, as supplies last. These kits are designed to serve families of up to four, containing essential items such as a full-size frozen turkey, stuffing, and all the fixings needed for a traditional Thanksgiving dinner. Even larger families are encouraged to request multiple kits to ensure everyone can enjoy a festive meal.
