Interactive Exhibition 'Shear Genius!' Opens Featuring Wallace & Gromit and Shaun the Sheep
The Henry Ford Museum of American Innovation in Dearborn, Michigan, is thrilled to announce the grand opening of the interactive exhibition titled "Wallace & Gromit and Shaun the Sheep: Shear Genius!" This exciting installation debuted on February 7, 2025, and will be open for exploration until April 20, 2025. Created in partnership with the Minnesota Children's Museum and Aardman, the exhibition immerses visitors in the vibrant worlds of Wallace & Gromit and Shaun the Sheep, allowing them to interact with beloved characters and their ingenious contraptions.
In this hands-on exhibit, families are invited to step into iconic locations such as 62 West Wallaby Street and Mossy Bottom Farm. Designed primarily for children aged 3 to 9, the "Shear Genius!" exhibition emphasizes problem-solving through engaging play, integrating STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math) concepts into fun activities. Young visitors will find themselves experimenting alongside Wallace, Gromit, and Shaun, solving various social-emotional and technical challenges that promote creative thinking.
Among the numerous engaging activities, participants can launch the Porridge Cannon, repair the Autochef, and activate both the Knit-o-Matic and Get-U-Up Device found in Wallace’s workshop. This interactive experience not only entertains but also provides valuable learning opportunities as children tackle problems in a playful environment. In addition to these hands-on activities, guests will have the chance to learn about the fascinating history behind the Wallace & Gromit films, including key figures who contributed to their creation. The exhibition will also feature a chance to delve into the intriguing world of stop-motion animation using various materials readily available within what is whimsically dubbed a "scrap heap."
Admission to the exhibition is complimentary for museum members and is included in the general admission ticket for the Henry Ford Museum of American Innovation. The Henry Ford also prides itself on being a participant in Museums for All, a program aimed at improving access to museums for families from all backgrounds.
