New Initiative in Human Capital Management
MenLab Inc., headquartered in Shibuya, Tokyo, has announced a co-developed experiential training program with the Yano Economic Research Institute, aimed at advancing human capital management in corporate settings. This innovative program, titled "Health Management Simulation Training," addresses significant challenges that organizations face concerning health issues among employees.
Rising Concerns in Human Capital Management
In recent years, there has been a growing focus on human capital management and health management. However, many companies struggle with issues such as:
- - Lack of integration of health management into daily operations.
- - Difficulty in recognizing the health issues of managerial staff.
- - Inability to assess presenteeism, where employees are physically present but their productivity is low.
- - Treating male mid-life crises, sleep deprivation, and stress as mere individual problems, rather than organizational issues.
To combat these challenges, MenLab has been working to visualize "invisible ailments" through its service, Gentsome, which addresses male mid-life health issues. In partnership with Yano Economic Research Institute, they are launching a new program that educates participants on how health challenges can significantly impact organizational value and productivity.
Overview of the Program
The training program focuses on various pressing health challenges that might arise in the workplace:
- - Male mid-life issues
- - Sleep deprivation
- - Stress management
- - Caregiver fatigue
- - PMS challenges
- - Mental health concerns
Participants will engage in a simulation where they can experiment with and learn about how these health problems are not just individual issues, but integral challenges that affect overall company productivity and organizational performance.
Comments from Leadership
Ryoichi Matsuura, CEO of MenLab: "While human capital management is gaining precedence, many organizations continue to see health management merely as an extension of employee benefits. Our objective is to visualize the ‘invisible ailments’ like male mid-life crises and presenteeism to contribute to productivity enhancements. Through this joint project, we hope to inspire more companies to view health issues as business challenges and to implement effective human capital management practices."
Masayoshi Matsushima, Chief Researcher at Yano Economic Research Institute: "The disclosure of human capital information and commitment to health management are emerging as critical themes in corporate governance. However, many companies prioritize institutional frameworks over ensuring that employees, especially managers, fully understand their significance. Our project aims to provide an experiential learning opportunity that firmly links health issues with business management."
By combining MenLab’s expertise in male health conditions with Yano's market analysis and corporate research proficiency, a novel learning program for businesses will be established.
