The State Group Welcomes Mark Funk as New Chief Operating Officer

The State Group, a prominent technical services contractor in North America, has made a strategic move by appointing Mark Funk as its Chief Operating Officer (COO). This decision is part of a larger initiative to solidify the company's leadership as it embarks on its next phase of growth.

Mark Funk brings three decades of rich experience in engineering, project execution, operations, and business leadership, making him an invaluable addition to the State Group. Prior to joining, he served as President of the Advanced Technologies and Life Sciences division at Fluor Corporation, where he oversaw operations for a global team of approximately 3,000 professionals and managed revenues exceeding $3 billion annually.

Brian Jones, the Chief Executive Officer of State Group, emphasized the significance of this appointment, describing it as an essential step toward enhancing the leadership team and building the organizational capabilities required for future growth. "Mark has consistently demonstrated his ability to assemble teams and navigate complex operations, executing challenging projects at a high level. His leadership philosophy aligns perfectly with our values-driven, people-first approach, which is crucial to our operations and customer relationships. We are thrilled to have him on board as we look to unlock the tremendous potential that lies ahead," Jones stated.

Funk’s extensive career at Fluor saw him ascending through various senior leadership roles across multiple disciplines, including engineering, project management, and business development. He has successfully led projects across North America, Europe, and Asia, working with markets that encompass advanced manufacturing, semiconductors, life sciences, and more.

One of his notable achievements was contributing to the expansion of Fluor's Advanced Technologies and Life Sciences branch, increasing its workforce from 1,000 to 3,000 members, all while quadrupling revenue and profitability. Funk's focus on project execution, safety, and customer relationships, alongside his commitment to employee development, will be instrumental as State Group continues to grow its capabilities and market presence.

On his new role, Funk expressed enthusiasm, stating, "The opportunity at State Group is both compelling and exciting. The company has a solid foundation and an excellent reputation among its clients, supported by a talent pool that knows how to deliver results. I look forward to collaborating with the State Group team to enhance our operational capabilities and set the stage for the company’s future growth."

As Chief Operating Officer, Funk will take the lead on enterprise-wide operations, develop and implement the company's growth strategy, and oversee all operational divisions. His hiring is a critical component of State Group's strategy to invest in its leadership, people, and capabilities to drive long-term growth and deliver greater value to clients.
