TYPELESS Vol.3: An Opportunity for Artists in Shibuya
The bustling area around Shibuya Station is set to become a canvas for artistic expression with the launch of TYPELESS Vol.3, an exciting new professional platform aimed at recruiting artists to contribute their work to public spaces.
Shibuya Station Front Area Management, a non-profit organization based in Tokyo's Shibuya District, is committed to promoting sustainable city development while resolving urban challenges and enriching public areas.
A Creative Initiative
Unveiled with the objective of enhancing the urban aesthetic of Shibuya and addressing issues related to graffiti and stickers, TYPELESS seeks to cultivate an environment where artists can thrive. For both the 2023 and 2024 fiscal years, the initiative will showcase open calls for artists and curators to produce artwork displayed in high-traffic areas around Shibuya Station, all leading to a more vibrant public space.
This year marks the third edition of TYPELESS, with a focus on inviting participants to submit artworks that will adorn eight columns strategically positioned in front of Shibuya Mark City. The unveiling of these installations is scheduled for February 2026, and the selected works will serve to celebrate the dynamic culture of Shibuya while engaging both daily commuters and international visitors.
