ANA and Trip.com Expand Ticket Sales Using NDC
In a significant development for the airline ticketing market, All Nippon Airways (ANA) and global travel service provider Trip.com have announced plans to expand their New Distribution Capability (NDC) collaboration. Starting June 24, 2025, they will extend ticket sales from the current single market of Japan to a total of twelve markets. These markets include not just Japan, but also Australia, Hong Kong, South Korea, Malaysia, Singapore, Thailand, Taiwan, India, Indonesia, Vietnam, and the Philippines.
This expansion aims to enhance customer experience significantly. Travelers departing from and arriving in these twelve markets will have access to ANA's offerings comparable to those available on its official website. This includes the ability to purchase tickets and additional services at prices and with terms equivalent to those found on the ANA website, providing an improved level of convenience for customers.
By connecting through NDC, travelers will be able to make reservations and issue tickets, alongside managing changes and refunds just as they would on the ANA website. This unified system ensures that customers purchasing ANA flights via Trip.com will enjoy the same level of service and flexibility as direct website users, making the booking process more user-friendly.
Hiroyuki Kondo, the head of ANA's Global Sales Division, expressed enthusiasm about the upcoming capabilities. He stated, “We are delighted to be able to offer our customers more convenient fares and services tailored to their needs through our NDC connections. We will continue to expand our NDC distribution network, striving to offer it to both domestic and international customers.”
Data from Trip.com also indicates that this collaboration will enhance customer engagement. PJ Zhou, Trip.com's North Asia Regional Airline Director, remarked, “We are very pleased to further strengthen our NDC partnership with ANA. By leveraging our knowledge of NDC technologies and our track record of supporting airlines globally, we will closely collaborate with ANA to provide a consistently high-quality experience for our customers, from seamless booking to after-sales support.”
Understanding NDC
NDC, or New Distribution Capability, is a communication standard developed by the International Air Transport Association (IATA) aimed at modernizing the way air ticket and related services are marketed and sold. This new standard allows for the transmission of complex and flexible information that was difficult to convey under previously existing frameworks. Additionally, NDC promotes collaboration not only within the aviation industry but also with external partners, thereby enhancing the overall travel experience.
