What is 4v4?
4v4 is a dynamic and innovative soccer format conceptualized by Keisuke Honda with the goal of revitalizing youth soccer in Japan. Aimed at U10 and U12 players, the
4v4 format prioritizes skills and creativity, allowing for quick succession of games with a unique set of rules. Teams compete in
10-minute matches with a free substitution rule and a
20-second shot clock, enabling all players, including the goalkeeper, to contribute offensively.
The tournament structure supports a system enabling multiple opportunities for teams to compete rather than a knockout format. This design not only enhances the enjoyment but also fosters personal development in young athletes, preparing them for future challenges both in sports and life.
The inaugural
ASIAN CUP is also planned for summer 2025, promising to further enhance the excitement surrounding this soccer movement.
