Transdev Teamsters in Providence Ratify their First Contract

In a landmark decision, bus drivers, dispatchers, fuelers, and cleaners working for Transdev in Providence have successfully ratified their inaugural contract with Teamsters Local 251. This breakthrough marks a significant achievement for the 56 members of the union, who have been engaged in rigorous negotiations for over a year. The newly forged three-year agreement encompasses essential provisions such as a notable salary increase, enhanced safety measures, seniority preferences for job bidding, and contributions to a Teamsters retirement plan.

Matthew Taibi, Secretary-Treasurer of Local 251 and Director of the Teamsters Passenger Transportation Division, celebrated the workers’ relentless efforts, stating, "These workers fought tooth and nail to secure a strong first Teamsters contract. Transdev Teamsters remained determined and committed to getting a fair first contract that addressed their needs and concerns.
