UST and Kaynes Semicon Join Forces for Semiconductor Manufacturing

In an ambitious move to enhance semiconductor manufacturing in India, UST has announced a strategic collaboration with Kaynes Semicon, resulting in a joint venture valued at Rs 3,330 crore. This partnership is a significant step towards the realization of India's aspirations to establish itself as a crucial player in the global semiconductor industry.

UST, renowned for its AI and technology transformation solutions, will infuse its expertise and existing semiconductor client base into this venture. This collaboration is particularly aligned with the Indian government’s ‘Make in India’ initiative, which aims to boost local manufacturing and reduce dependency on imports. As these companies join forces, they aim to elevate the accessibility and availability of semiconductor technology not just within India but globally.

This newly formed partnership seeks to leverage UST's advancements in digital engineering, artificial intelligence, and real-time data analytics, all of which are essential in enhancing production processes and ensuring high-quality outputs. The joint venture will focus on the establishment of a state-of-the-art OSAT (Outsourced Semiconductor Assembly and Test) facility in Sanand, Gujarat, aiming to cater to the increasing demand for semiconductors in various sectors, including electronics, electric vehicles (EVs), and renewable energy technologies.

Krishna Sudheendra, CEO of UST, expressed optimism about this partnership, stating that it marks a turning point in the semiconductor landscape in India. He noted, “Together, our two great companies will harness the strengths of the Indian market to build a strong foundation for our country in the global semiconductor industry.”

Gilroy Mathew, COO of UST, emphasized the shared values between the two companies, highlighting their commitment to meet the surging global demand through accelerated development, manufacturing, and assembly of advanced semiconductor components in India. As both parties leverage their unique strengths, they aim to fulfill the rising needs of various industries hungry for reliable semiconductor solutions.

Kaynes Semicon’s CEO, Raghu Panicker, underscored the partnership's significance, asserting that combining UST's manufacturing and digital engineering capabilities will lead to the delivery of sophisticated OSAT solutions that empower India’s semiconductor ecosystem to thrive.

As the semiconductor arena in India evolves, this joint venture encapsulates a promising future. It not only aims to establish benchmarks in semiconductor assembly and testing but also paves the way for innovations central to global technological advancement.

Furthermore, this collaboration stands as a testament to Kaynes Semicon’s growth since its inception in 2008. Operated as a wholly-owned subsidiary of Kaynes Technology India Ltd, it has consistently been at the forefront of integrated electronics manufacturing, committed to delivering IoT solutions and robust manufacturing capabilities.

The establishment of the new facility will play a vital role in enhancing India’s competitiveness on the global stage, influencing local economies, and contributing to a self-reliant semiconductor ecosystem. All stakeholders, including government officials and industry leaders, anticipate that this partnership will significantly contribute to building a resilient supply chain within the semiconductor sector.

With UST's commitment and Kaynes Semicon's existing experience in the semiconductor industry, this collaboration represents a pivotal moment for India's journey towards becoming a global semiconductor powerhouse. This joint venture embodies a shared vision of innovation, quality, and sustainability that is critical to shaping the tech landscapes of the future.
