EY Japan Earns Kurumin Plus Certification for Supporting Work-Life Balance in Fertility Treatments

EY Japan Achieves Kurumin Plus Certification

EY Japan, located in Chiyoda, Tokyo, and led by President Yoshiharu Matsuura, has proudly obtained the esteemed Kurumin Plus certification from the Ministry of Health, Labour and Welfare. This certification is awarded to companies that exemplify excellence in supporting work-life balance, particularly for those managing fertility treatment alongside their careers. The Kurumin Plus designation is an expansion of the original Kurumin certification, which recognizes organizations that excel in creating a workplace conducive for parenting. The new certification specifically honors companies that take significant steps to establish an environment supportive of employees undergoing fertility treatment.

To qualify for the Kurumin Plus certification, companies must already possess the standard Kurumin certification, which includes meeting requirements aimed at improving the parental leave usage rates of both women and men, as well as reducing overtime work. EY Japan stood out through its initiatives aimed at fostering a supportive atmosphere for employees focused on reproductive health.

One of EY Japan's standout offerings is its 'Fertility Leave,' which permits employees to take up to 20 days of unpaid leave annually for fertility treatments. Additionally, the company recognizes the necessity for flexibility in work hours and locations, offering both a flexible working system and remote work options. These measures not only make it easier for employees to balance their professional responsibilities with personal health needs, but they are actively promoted within the organization through internal seminars and an engaging intranet.

Such initiatives have culminated in EY Japan's recent achievement of the Kurumin Plus certification. The company has gone even further by introducing an 'Egg Assessment Kit’ to help women assess their egg count, thus aiding them in making informed decisions regarding their timing for pregnancy and delivery while maintaining careers.

Beyond fertility and parenting support, EY Japan is committed to enhancing a wide range of life support initiatives, including those related to caregiving, diverse family structures, and health management. These efforts are part of a more comprehensive strategy aimed at improving the overall well-being of its employees.

In alignment with these values, EY focuses on creating new value for clients, its members, society, and the planet.
