The survey, which included a diverse group of participants aged 20 to 69, found that 14.9% of respondents are eagerly anticipating the opportunity to view the radiant autumn leaves, while another 33.0% expressed a wish to enjoy it whenever they get the chance. Surprisingly, 30.5% indicated they hold no particular interest in autumn foliage. Interestingly, the enthusiasm for autumn leaves tends to increase with age, with younger individuals, particularly those in their 20s, showing significantly less interest. In that age group, 45.9% stated they are indifferent about the phenomenon.
So, how do people prefer to enjoy the beauty of autumn leaves? A majority of respondents, 26.8%, indicated they enjoy strolling through local parks or along tree-lined streets. Following this, enjoying autumn leaves alongside historical architecture, viewing them from a car during a drive, or visiting renowned foliage locations were also popular responses. Notably, individuals in their 60s particularly enjoy local strolls, relaxation in hot springs, and dining or having tea while appreciating the colors of the season.
When asked about their feelings towards autumn foliage, about 20% of respondents mentioned feelings of beauty and the perception of seasonal changes as the top sentiments. For those aged 40 to 60, additional feelings such as peace of mind and refreshment were significant contributors to the overall appreciation of this autumnal spectacle.
As for recommended spots to enjoy fall colors, many respondents pointed to nearby parks, walking routes, and even their daily commutes. This reflects a common sentiment: one doesn't need to venture far from home to enjoy the seasonal transition. The joy of autumn foliage can be found in everyday life.
