GAC INPOW Launches World's First Mass-Produced Semi-Solid Energy Storage Cell at Intersolar Europe 2026

In a remarkable development for energy storage technology, GAC INPOW has unveiled the world’s first mass-produced semi-solid energy storage cell, boasting an impressive capacity of 587 Ah. This groundbreaking launch occurred at Intersolar Europe 2026 in Munich, where INPOW Battery, a wholly-owned subsidiary of GAC Group, showcased its innovative product set. The semi-solid cell represents a fusion of solid-state battery safety and the scalability required for commercial use, positioning INPOW as a frontrunner in the European energy storage market.

The newly introduced 587 Ah cell integrates a proprietary composite electrolyte made from oxide and polymer materials, drastically reducing free electrolyte content to less than 0.01%. This enhanced safety performance does not compromise mass production viability, making it not just an engineering achievement but a commercially viable product for the growing energy storage sector. Demonstrating its robustness, the cell has successfully passed extreme usage tests, enduring compression forces ten times higher than national standards, complete cell cuts, and exposure to temperatures of 200°C and flames exceeding 1,000°C without catching fire or exploding.

Alongside the semi-solid cell, INPOW also launched a large-scale liquid-cooled energy storage system featuring a capacity of 6.25 MWh. This advanced solution is tailored for integrating large-scale renewable energy, facilitating grid balance, and providing long-duration energy storage applications. The safety of this system is underpinned by a triple-layer security protocol, AI-based predictive diagnostics, and a cloud monitoring platform capable of identifying potential risks up to 20 days in advance, including overheating alerts that can be issued up to 24 hours before any potential failure.

As part of its European localization strategy, INPOW announced plans to establish a sales and technical service center in Europe, expected to open in October 2026. This facility will offer local technical support, after-sales service, spare parts supply, and project development assistance to European clients.

Xu Junhai, the CEO of INPOW Battery, emphasized the strategic importance of Europe in the global energy storage industry, referring to it as the initial stop in the company’s international expansion. He stated, "Europe is a strategic market for the global energy storage industry and the first stop in INPOW's international expansion. We are committed to providing our European partners with industry-leading safety standards akin to the automotive sector, advanced battery technology, and long-term local support."

Leveraging GAC Group’s extensive automotive experience, INPOW combines battery technology, smart manufacturing, and integrated energy management capabilities to deliver reliable, safe, and sustainable energy storage solutions worldwide. Visitors can learn more about INPOW’s innovative technology at their booth located in Hall C3, Exhibitor C3.350 during Intersolar Europe 2026, which runs from June 23 to 25, 2026, at Messe München, Munich, Germany. This event is pivotal for both industry professionals and enthusiasts eager to explore the forefront of energy storage innovations.
