Online Seminar on Disaster Prevention and Technology

Sankei Shimbun, located in Chiyoda, Tokyo, is organizing an important online seminar titled "Disaster Prevention DX for Municipalities, Businesses, and Communities—Evolving Disaster Response through Technology" on August 26, starting at 1 PM. This session aims to bring together participants from various sectors, focusing on enhancing disaster prevention strategies through innovative technology.

In recent years, Japan has faced a dramatic increase in natural disasters, including earthquakes, typhoons, and torrential rains. These events have underscored the urgent need for municipalities and companies to develop effective disaster prevention and mitigation strategies. The seminar emphasizes the necessity for organizations to integrate daily preparedness with effective emergency response strategies, ultimately building a more resilient disaster response system.

During this seminar, attendees will gain insights into the latest governmental policies and the frameworks guiding administrative responses to disasters. Key issues and lessons learned from companies in disaster response scenarios will also be discussed. Topics include developing evacuation plans, effective communication of information, ensuring employee safety, and providing material support. The keynote speaker, Yuichiro Usuda, the Director of the Comprehensive Disaster Information Center at the National Research Institute for Earth Science and Disaster Resilience (NIED), will present on transformational strategies for disaster prevention, based on the recent report released in June regarding the establishment of a disaster management agency in Japan.

Additionally, there will be a special lecture by Kohei Nakazawa, the Editor-in-Chief of the crisis management media platform Risk Management.com. He will elaborate on the essential points for designing practical digital transformation (DX) strategies that safeguard both business continuity and employee safety.

Several companies showcasing disaster response products will also present real-world applications and case studies to help participants understand how these tools can be integrated into their existing operations.
