World Food Movement Launching Feeding Programs in the USA
In an era where many face tough choices between basic necessities, the World Food Movement (WFM) seeks to combat hunger through its newly initiated feeding programs across the United States. Founded to honor Srila Prabhupada's vision of a world where no one goes hungry, WFM is set to ensure that students and communities have reliable access to nutritious meals.
Drawing inspiration from the Akshaya Patra Foundation, which has successfully fed millions of children in India since 2000, WFM aims to adapt this transformative model for the needs of American communities. Akshaya Patra is renowned for its ISO-certified kitchens that produce up to 100,000 healthy meals daily, utilizing advanced technology whilst prioritizing quality. Their impactful work has garnered recognition from prominent figures including former Presidents Barack Obama and Bill Clinton, who praised the scale and effectiveness of their initiatives.
The World Food Movement aims to replicate this success within the U.S., starting its programs in New Jersey, New York, and California, with plans to eventually reach more regions nationwide. According to Sri Chanchalapathi Dasa, Vice Chairman of WFM, this initiative is crucial for supporting the well-being of students and communities. "Being well-nourished is essential for citizens to flourish and contribute meaningfully to nation-building," he stated.
On September 28, 2025, WFM will host a formal launch event at the Victoria Theatre, NJPAC in Newark, where the community will gather to celebrate the initiative. This event will feature a concert by the acclaimed musician Abby V (Abhishek Venkatachalam), known for his unique fusion of classical and contemporary music. The concert aims to add cultural richness to the evening while raising awareness about the mission of the World Food Movement.
As they embark on this mission, WFM encourages the support of all sectors, including government agencies, corporate leaders, philanthropists, and individuals. Such collaboration is vital for ensuring the provision of wholesome meals, enabling a healthier and happier nation.
WFM invites people to participate and contribute to this pressing cause, affirming the belief that no one should have to face hunger.
