Infineon Strengthens AI Security with Quantum-Resilient TPM Integration



In a significant move towards enhancing security in the realm of Physical AI, Infineon Technologies AG has announced the integration of its OPTIGA™ Trusted Platform Module (TPM) SLB 9672 with NVIDIA's Jetson Thor platform. This partnership aims to create a secure environment for robots and autonomous systems, which are increasingly operating in diverse environments, from factories to public spaces. This integration is particularly crucial as it establishes a certified root of trust designed to withstand quantum-era threats.

The hardware-based security solution provided by Infineon's OPTIGA TPM is engineered to securely store cryptographic keys and verify system integrity at the chip level. This is critical as robots transition from laboratory settings to real-world applications where security failures can lead to operational disruptions and potential legal ramifications.

In today's rapidly evolving technological landscape, security requirements are driven by regulatory frameworks, such as the EU Cyber Resilience Act and the IEC 62443 standard for industrial systems. These mandates necessitate auditable security measures at the hardware level, a demand that both Infineon and NVIDIA are strategically positioned to meet.

The OPTIGA TPM technology offers distinct advantages, being separate from the application processor, which ensures a physically isolated and certifiable security solution. This system supports measured boot and remote attestation, enabling operators and regulators to cryptographically verify that a system's software stack is genuine and unmodified throughout its operational life.
