Fermi America™, a company renowned for its ambitious goal of developing the world’s largest private grid powered by artificial intelligence, has secured a significant agreement with Energy Transfer, one of North America's largest midstream energy firms. This partnership aims to supply natural gas to power the initial phases of the HyperGrid™ campus, located just outside Amarillo, Texas. The HyperGrid™ campus is designed to support next-generation AI technology and is a collaboration with the Texas Tech University System.
Strategic Energy Supply
The newly established agreement will allow Fermi America to connect to Energy Transfer's extensive pipeline network, which spans approximately 140,000 miles across 44 states. This connection not only secures the natural gas supply essential for the campus’s operational needs but also positions Fermi as a leader in adopting clean energy sources. The interconnection project is expected to be operational by the first quarter of 2026, requiring minimal capital expenditures, thus aiding the swift progression of the HyperGrid™ initiative.
CEO Toby Neugebauer highlighted the importance of this agreement by stating, “What makes our Amarillo campus one of the top sites in the country for other clean sources of energy is that it was first an elite natural gas site.” The firm supply of natural gas will help generate the first two gigawatts of reliable power necessary for serving AI data center customers.
