TERREPOWER Sets a New Benchmark in Sustainable Manufacturing with 50 MW Solar Batch

TERREPOWER Achieves Landmark in Sustainable Solar Manufacturing

DAPHNE, Alabama – In a significant advancement for sustainable manufacturing, TERREPOWER, formerly known as BBB Industries, has announced a major expansion aimed at producing solar panels through responsible practices. The company will manufacture approximately 95,000 solar panels, equating to a total capacity of 50 MW at its Sparta, Tennessee facility. This move underscores TERREPOWER's commitment to clean technology and positions it as a leader in the modern solar industry.

"This is our biggest opportunity so far, representing a tremendous success for us," explained Alexandra Harrison, president of the Strategic Industrial Business Unit at TERREPOWER. Harrison emphasized the company's focus on responsibly restoring solar modules through sustainable manufacturing processes that enhance value for developers, operators, and end-users alike.

The solar modules being produced were previously intended for a project that had been canceled but are now being prepared for re-entry into the market. This reflects TERREPOWER's ongoing dedication to responsible sourcing, waste management, and resource conservation, promoting both environmental stewardship and financial savings for stakeholders. As a result, the company's practices also enhance the long-term viability of the solar energy sector.

Meeting Industry Needs with Innovative Solutions

The expansion comes at a crucial moment for the solar industry. Recent studies indicate that the volume of decommissioned and obsolete panels is growing at an alarming rate, underscoring the urgent need for solutions that responsibly manage the lifecycle of solar products. In the United States alone, the number of panels reaching their end-of-life has reached between 4 and 5 million annually, with projections suggesting this could escalate to 10 million by 2030. This presents the industry with an increasing demand for effective recycling and repurposing solutions as upgrading technology and extreme weather events necessitate earlier replacement cycles than anticipated.

In this volatile market, TERREPOWER's leadership becomes increasingly relevant. By sustainably supplying 50 MW of panels that would otherwise have been discarded, they provide reliable, verified, and sustainably produced solar solutions when traceability and quality control are paramount.

"No one else offers this level of assessment, cleaning, testing, inspection, safe repackaging, and validation," insisted Harrison. "The market has clearly shown a demand for expert-verified panels; that is our specialty."

Driving Local Impact Through a Global Circular Economy Model

As TERREPOWER expands its solar operations to capture growing demand, the Sparta facility continues to create jobs and provide investment and specialized training opportunities. The 18,000 square-meter facility stands as the largest sustainable manufacturing plant of its kind in North America, with the ability to produce 300,000 solar modules annually and the potential to scale up to over a million panels each year. Once operational at full capacity, this venture is expected to divert more than 7.2 million kilograms of material from landfills annually while providing energy for up to 20,000 homes.

“This project directly contributes to the local economy,” noted Peter Hutchings, TERREPOWER’s business development manager. “We are transforming panels that would have otherwise become waste into reliable modules ready for market.”

Solar energy developers worldwide are grappling with mounting challenges, from aging assets and stagnant inventories, to the need for responsible lifecycle management. The success seen in Sparta reflects a practical, proven, and scalable strategy for repurposing solar modules with remaining lifespans.
