The 4th China-Africa Economic and Trade Expo officially kicked off on June 12, 2025, in Changsha, the vibrant capital of Hunan province. In attendance was Uganda’s Prime Minister Robinah Nabbanja, alongside Liberia’s Vice President Jeremiah Kpan Koung and Kenya’s Cabinet Secretary Musalia Mudavadi. The Expo was themed "China and Africa Together Towards Modernization," emphasizing the shared vision for progress and development.

Significance of the Expo


This biennial event brought together participants from 53 African nations and 11 international organizations. Additionally, representatives from 27 Chinese provinces and municipalities were present, including more than 4,700 businesses, trade associations, and financial institutions from both regions. The expansive exhibition area spans an impressive 100,000 square meters, featuring national pavilions from 26 African countries along with promotional spaces from 23 Chinese locales.

Exhibition Highlights


This year’s Expo showcased six thematic pavilions centered around critical sectors such as intelligent mining, clean energy, and modern agriculture. New exhibition sections dedicated to “African Quality Products” and the China-Africa fashion industry highlighted premium agricultural produce, African craftsmanship, and Chinese electromechanical equipment.

Parallel Economic Events


Running concurrently with the Expo were 30 economically focused events, aiming to implement the ten partnership actions outlined in prior discussions. These events sought to enhance collaboration in various fields, including sustainable industrial development, green mining, infrastructure advancement, traditional medicine, cultural trade, and youth entrepreneurship.

Concrete Outcomes


The Expo has already yielded tangible results, evidenced by the signing of 175 cooperation projects linked to the ten partnership initiatives. The aggregate value of these projects is estimated to be around $11.39 billion, signaling strong momentum for future collaborations between China and Africa.
