Frederick Health Hospice Welcomes New Director Korey Cobb to Lead Compassionate Care
Frederick Health Hospice Welcomes New Leadership
Frederick Health Hospice is poised for a new chapter with the recent appointment of Korey Cobb as its new Director. This announcement marks a significant milestone for the nonprofit, as he becomes only the third director since its inception in 1980. As one of the earliest hospice organizations in the United States, Frederick Health Hospice has been a cornerstone for compassionate patient care in the Frederick community for over four decades.
Korey's commitment to healthcare and community empowerment is evident in his previous roles. Most recently, he served as the Chief Operating Officer of Healthworks for Northern Virginia, a Federally Qualified Healthcare Center located in Leesburg, Virginia. Prior to that, his leadership experience included positions at Rehab2Perform and MMI, both reputable organizations in Frederick County, where he excelled in operational management and service delivery.
Heather Kirby, Vice President of Integrated Care Delivery and Chief Population Health Officer at Frederick Health, played a pivotal role in selecting the new leader. "Korey's extensive background in executive leadership and business development, along with his deep passion for healthcare, will greatly enhance our mission in Frederick and Montgomery Counties," said Kirby. She emphasized that Cobb's approach to fostering a positive team culture and community involvement perfectly aligns with the hospice's values.
In his own words, Cobb expressed how meaningful this new role is to him: "Joining Frederick Health as the Director of Hospice and Palliative Care is deeply meaningful to me. Frederick has always been more than just a community; it is home. I am devoted to ensuring that every family has access to compassionate and dignified care when they need it the most. Together, we will continue building a future where every individual and family receives the support they need during some of life's most important moments."
Cobb's dedication further extends to his active involvement in the Frederick County Chamber of Commerce's Leadership Frederick program, where he graduated from the 2023 class. His recognition as one of the outstanding young professionals in the Frederick County Office of Economic Development's "Top 50 Under 40" list in 2021 showcases his commitment to excellence and community engagement.
Academically, he holds a bachelor's degree from Frostburg State University in Maryland and an MBA from Mount St. Mary's University in Emmitsburg, Maryland. His involvement in various nonprofit organizations highlights his dedication to enhancing the quality of life in the Frederick community.
