As TOKYO Whisky Library proudly approaches its 10th anniversary in October 2026, it introduces a special limited release in collaboration with the esteemed Nagahama Distillery. This collaboration marks a significant milestone in the world of whisky, as it combines the expertise of Japan’s smallest craft distillery with the renowned whiskey atmosphere of Tokyo.

What's New?

Starting from July 28, 2026, the flagship whisky lounge will unveil the "Single Malt Nagahama Sherry-Q (PX) #3547 for TOKYO Whisky Library." This highly anticipated release follows the last collaboration that made waves among whisky connoisseurs and has been crafted exclusively to commemorate this landmark anniversary.

Before the general release, this exquisite spirit is available for early tastings at TOKYO Whisky Library. Patrons can experience the richness of this uniquely crafted whisky in a luxurious, immersive environment. The bar’s skilled bartenders will offer bespoke pairing suggestions to heighten your tasting experience, ensuring the delight of being one of the first to savor this luxurious single cask whisky.

A Toast to the Decade: The Limited Edition Cask

The whisky is a meticulously selected cask (Cask #3547), aged for six years—a perfect narrative of its journey to commemorate the library's decade-long legacy. Distilled in March 2020, the heavy peated spirit underwent an exclusive aging process in bourbon quarter casks, using an abandoned tunnel known as the NAGAHAMA Aging Cellar. After maturation, it received an indulgent finish in Pedro Ximénez (PX) sherry quarter casks. Only 194 bottles of this cask-strength expression, boasting an impressive ABV of 53.8%, will be available.

Artistic expression on the label reflects the smoky essence of the whisky. Inspired by Yoshitoshi’s ukiyo-e series, “Tsuki Hyakushi,” the label features a striking image symbolic of the heavy peated notes, showcasing flames with a full moon hovering in the background.

Color

A stunning, deep ruby mahogany hue.

Aroma

The aroma is marked by a delicate smokiness, reminiscent of a whispering smoke, intricately layered with ripe red berries and dark cherries sourced from the sherry cask.

Palate

With an exceptionally rich mouthfeel, the whisky reveals a concentration of fruitiness, deepening into flavors reminiscent of worn leather and bittersweet chocolate. The robust smokiness from the heavy peat shares the spotlight, creating a powerful sip that exceeds its years of aging with an overwhelmingly intense finish.

Manager Kazumasa Okada describes the experience as enveloping you in a smoky warmth while bringing forth notes reminiscent of cherry candy. The texture is surprisingly smooth, with a fresh fruitiness that dissipates in an explosion of smoke. The PX quarter cask finishes with an elusive, gentle sweetness complementing the complexity of flavors.
