U Power Unveils Hydrogen Energy Solutions at Data Center Asia 2026
U Power Limited has made a significant mark at the recent Data Center Asia (DCA) 2026, showcasing its innovative hydrogen-powered energy solutions through HYDRO DATA, a venture focused on data center infrastructure. The event, held in Hong Kong, gathered over 200 exhibitors and attracted more than 8,000 attendees from across the industry. This year’s conference emphasized crucial discussions regarding the future of AI computing and the role of energy solutions in developing sustainable data centers.
During the conference, Mr. Jia Li, the founder and chairman of U Power, delivered an enlightening keynote speech titled "Hydrogen-Powered AI Data Centers: A New Business Paradigm – Balancing Economic Viability, Environmental Sustainability, and Long-Term Resilience." His address highlighted the escalating energy demands from AI-driven data centers and illustrated how hydrogen energy could serve as a pivotal resource in meeting these requirements while maintaining environmental integrity.
Mr. Li also joined a high-profile industry panel titled "Enabling AI Data Centers with Advanced Power and Energy Solutions," alongside notable figures in the industry such as Virat Patel from Pioneer Consulting Asia-Pacific, Ben Boudreau from Zerra DC, and Anthony Ho from Equinix. The discussion emphasized the challenges posed by the heightened workloads of AI technology, which necessitate reliable and scalable low-carbon energy solutions, especially crucial for the anticipated growth in data center operations.
U Power's approach aligns with a broader strategic vision: as AI adoption increases, energy infrastructure will become vital in shaping the development of AI computing. To capitalize on this trend, U Power launched HYDRO DATA in May 2026, backed by strategic investments from the Charoen Pokphand Group. The initiative is designed to develop hydrogen-powered energy infrastructures catering to cutting-edge AI data centers.
One of HYDRO DATA’s significant achievements includes securing a letter of intent for a major energy project in Rayong, Thailand, aimed at a data center capacity of 100MW, with a pilot phase of 3MW already in progress. By utilizing advanced Proton Exchange Membrane (PEM) fuel cell technology, HYDRO DATA offers a stable, continuous, and eco-friendly energy supply for data centers, addressing the growing demand for power while ensuring compliance with environmental, social, and governance (ESG) goals.
Since acquiring the data center project opportunity, HYDRO DATA has gained recognition within the global data center sector, leading to more invitations for participation in critical industry forums. Mr. Jia Li remarked, "The AI era demands greater computational capacities and necessitates a more flexible, reliable, and sustainable energy ecosystem. We are dedicated to enhancing hydrogen fuel cell technology and intelligent energy management solutions to propel the growth of global digital infrastructure."
Looking forward, U Power seeks to leverage its expertise in new energy infrastructure and management while collaborating with strategic partners like the CP Group to accelerate the spread of HYDRO DATA’s hydrogen energy solutions throughout the Asia-Pacific and global markets. This development not only reaffirms U Power's commitment to sustainable energy but also positions it as a leader in the emergence of greener technology solutions in digital infrastructure.
Through initiatives like this, U Power aims to facilitate the creation of energy systems that not only meet the immediate needs of data centers but also contribute to long-term environmental sustainability and resilience in the tech industry.
