Silal and SVG Sign Joint-Venture Agreement to Enhance Agricultural Innovation at CIIE 2025

Silal and SVG Join Forces at CIIE 2025

On November 7, 2025, a significant milestone was achieved in agricultural collaboration as Sheikh Theyab bin Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan graced the signing of a joint-venture agreement between Silal, a leading agri-food and technology firm based in Abu Dhabi, and Shouguang Colorful Manor Modern Agriculture Co., Ltd (SVG), one of China's foremost agricultural technology companies, at the China International Import Expo (CIIE) 2025.

The partnership underscores a commitment to advancing sustainable agriculture and reinforces the UAE's vision to bolster food security by diversifying local production and accelerating the adoption of advanced agri-tech solutions suitable for arid climates.

Dr. Thani bin Ahmed Al Zeyoudi, UAE Minister of Foreign Trade, stated, "The UAE continues to build strategic partnerships that strengthen our national food security ecosystem while deepening economic ties with key global partners like China. This joint venture reflects our shared commitment to innovation, sustainability, and responsible growth that benefit both nations and contribute to the resilience of the global food system."

Innovative Agricultural Solutions

As part of this agreement, Silal and SVG will establish the first organic insect facility for agriculture in the region and develop next-generation greenhouse infrastructure to serve the markets of the UAE and the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC). This partnership amalgamates Silal's in-depth market knowledge and farmer network with SVG's technological expertise in AI-powered greenhouse systems, biological pollination, and precision agriculture.

To further cement their shared vision for global market expansion, both parties have entered into a long-term strategic partnership focusing on the trade of fruits and vegetables. This initiative foresees the annual import of over 1,000 containers of selected products from China to the UAE and surrounding markets. Dhafer Al Qasimi, CEO of Silal, expressed that "this partnership marks significant progress in Silal's mission to promote sustainable agriculture through science and innovation. By combining SVG's technological prowess with Silal's deep understanding of the UAE agricultural landscape, this joint venture will enable long-term resilience, efficiency, and competitiveness throughout the agrifood value chain."

The collaboration aims to localize essential agricultural inputs, reduce import dependency, and create a resource-efficient, climate-friendly agricultural model across the region. By integrating SVG’s advanced manufacturing capabilities with Silal’s operational expertise, the partnership is set to generate scalable, cost-effective solutions that enhance water efficiency, boost yields, and solidify the UAE's position as a regional center for sustainable agriculture and innovation.

Investment in Future Technologies

The joint venture involves a substantial investment of $38 million in establishing an AI and robotics-driven vegetable production center in Al Foah, Al Ain, spanning 9.8 hectares. This facility will serve as a regional innovation center showcasing modern greenhouse technologies, water-saving systems, and eco-friendly agricultural models tailored for Gulf conditions.

The agreement builds upon prior discussions, including two significant memorandums of understanding between Silal and SVG, deepening their technical and commercial collaboration. It facilitates knowledge transfer, capacity building, and technology localization, providing farmers in the UAE with solutions that decrease import reliance, increase yields, and support environmental sustainability.

In conclusion, the alliance between Silal and SVG at the China International Import Expo 2025 not only emphasizes a commitment to advancing agricultural technology but also paves the way for a sustainable future in food security for the UAE and beyond.
