Empowering Nigeria: BLUETTI and UN-Habitat Join Forces for Sustainable Energy Solutions
Clean Energy for All: BLUETTI and UN-Habitat Expand Their Joint Efforts in Nigeria
In a significant step towards enhancing sustainable energy access, BLUETTI, a global leader in clean energy solutions, partnered with the United Nations Human Settlements Programme (UN-Habitat) to execute their second joint initiative in Nigeria from September 7 to 10, 2026. This initiative is part of BLUETTI's ongoing program, "Lighting An African Family (LAAF)," which aims to support communities in Africa that face limited access to basic services through innovative clean energy solutions.
The latest initiative took place at the Father Orshio Adasu University in Makurdi, where a two-day workshop focused on solar energy covered essential concepts and practical applications. As part of this effort, BLUETTI donated 50 PB200 solar energy kits for lighting and energy storage, which were utilized in hands-on sessions. Additionally, they launched a Campus Ambassador Program aimed at spreading awareness about clean energy within the university and surrounding communities.
Efforts also reached Yelwata, a local area within the Guma Local Government, where reliable electricity supplies are a significant challenge. Here, BLUETTI contributed another 180 solar energy kits to households led by women or elderly individuals, thereby impacting over 1,000 residents. This initiative enabled families to access a safer and more reliable source of electricity for their daily needs, ultimately improving their living conditions and fostering greater opportunities for education, communication, and community development.
James Ray, a spokesperson for BLUETTI, expressed pride in the collaboration with UN-Habitat, stating, "Our initiative has expanded outreach from East Africa to West Africa, reflecting our mutual commitment to enhancing clean energy access in more communities across the African continent." Since the inception of the LAAF program, over 60,000 individuals across Africa have benefited from its efforts.
Looking ahead, BLUETTI and UN-Habitat plan to strengthen their collaboration further by deploying clean energy solutions in additional African countries, contributing to more extensive social and environmental benefits. Over the next five years, the continuation of this partnership is projected to reduce carbon emissions by approximately 337.5 tons, promoting the development of resilient communities and sustainability for all.
