Liberty HealthShare Invites Applications for the Sharing Hearts Fund
Canton, Ohio – Liberty HealthShare®, working alongside the Canton Repository, has opened up a new opportunity for families in Stark County, Ohio. Starting September 1, applications for the Sharing Hearts Fund for Pediatric Wellness will be accepted, with a total of $50,000 in grants available. This fund aims to assist local families with medical needs focused on children's health.
The Sharing Hearts Fund is an initiative designed specifically to cater to the healthcare needs of children, including vital medical procedures that encompass physical and dental exams, vision tests, and hearing assessments, along with any necessary eyeglasses. Last July, the fund was able to distribute more than $17,000 to five deserving families.
Dorsey Morrow, the CEO of Liberty HealthShare, expressed his gratitude for the chance to impact young lives positively. “We were blessed to have had the opportunity to help these deserving children with their medical and dental needs,” he said. Morrow added that he believes this funding can enhance the quality of life for many children within the community.
With the second round of funding on the horizon, Liberty HealthShare is making efforts to streamline the application process. Morrow anticipates that the updates will assist more families in securing the medical care their children require. “We are thankful for the assistance of several community partners who are helping with our outreach to families in need of this financial support,” he affirmed.
Families interested in receiving financial aid will need to complete a straightforward application, where they will describe the specific medical procedures needed and justify their financial situation. The application will be available on the Sharing Hearts Fund's dedicated website,
libertyhealthshare.org/sharing-hearts, beginning June 1. For those preferring paper applications, they can be obtained at Liberty HealthShare's office located at 4455 Hills and Dales Rd. NW, Canton, Ohio 44708. All applications submitted by 5 p.m. on September 30 will be considered for the current funding cycle.
To ensure thorough evaluation, the grant requests will be assessed by the Sharing Hearts Fund's Application Review Committee. This committee comprises community leaders invested in the welfare of Stark County residents, featuring representatives from local churches, social service agencies, and other organizations committed to helping the local community. Key members include Morrow, Amy Hagan, the Vice President of Medical Services at Liberty HealthShare, Jenn Warner from the Legacy Project of Stark County, Scott Schnyders from Refuge of Hope, Amanda Anschutz from Compassion Delivered, and Rev. Walter Moss from Canton Foursquare Church.
All financial contributions for the Sharing Hearts Fund are sourced through donations and grants, ensuring that these funds are separate from the operational costs of Liberty HealthShare. The program is supported entirely by the generosity of donors, and anyone wishing to contribute can make tax-deductible donations on the Liberty HealthShare website.
