As the cherry blossoms start to vanish and spring truly takes hold, Tokyo is gearing up for a spectacular event that combines vibrant flora with mesmerizing illumination. The Tokyo Metropolitan Bureau of Transportation has teamed up with the Tokyo Park Association to launch a collaboration campaign centered around the beloved 'Nemophila Flower Sea' at Toneri Park. Between April 11 and April 29, visitors can experience a magical blend of nature and light in a festivity aptly named 'The Flower and Light Movement: Stars of Toneri Reflecting in the Sea of Nemophila.'
This month-long collaboration will not only showcase breathtaking flowerbeds filled with sky-blue nemophila but will also feature charming light displays that transform the park into a whimsical wonderland. With the theme revolving around the color 'Toneri Blue'—a tribute to the serene blue of the sky and water—guests can expect an immersive experience that marries the beauty of nature with captivating artistry. The park boasts expansive open skies, lush green hues, and tranquil water features that will serve as the perfect canvas for this celebration.
During the event, every guest who presents a same-day valid 'Tokyo Metropolitan Whole Ticket' (a one-day transportation pass) at the event tent will receive a limited-edition gift, sure to serve as a memento of their visit. The gift packs include a set of three beautiful collaboration postcards, seeds of the nemophila flower, and a charming pull-back car model from the Nippori-Toneri Liner for the first 2,000 attendees. This promotional offer is available from 1 PM to 9 PM daily, through the duration of the campaign, or until supplies last.
Aside from the stunning flowerbeds, the campaign also includes an exciting feature: the chance to navigate through a digital stamp rally throughout the park and surrounding stations. Guests can scan QR codes positioned at key spots to collect stamps and earn prizes; the first 500 to participate and fill out a quick questionnaire will take home a nemophila growing kit. Participants who only answer the questionnaire will receive a special clear file, limited to the first 1,000 respondents. Stamp collection locations include Nippori Station, Nishi-Nippori Station, Toneri Park Station, and various event areas within the park.
What makes this year's flower movement even more enticing is the addition of artificial big nemophila flowers, strategically placed throughout the park grounds, which will enhance the already spectacular daytime views. As visitors wander through these displays, they can partake in unforgettable photo opportunities created by the lush flower fields. Whether enjoying a casual stroll or actively capturing the beauty through the lens, guests can fully immerse themselves in the awe-inspiring wonder that is Toneri Park.
The nights at Toneri Park will come alive with vibrant light shows designed to highlight the 'Toneri Blue' theme. From Monday to Thursday, guests will find themselves bathed in this blue hue from 6 PM to 8 PM. On Fridays, weekends, and holidays, as well as on April 28, the lighting will extend until 8:30 PM, ensuring everyone can enjoy the breathtaking views during the evening.
Food trucks providing a delightful array of culinary options will also be on-site, allowing visitors to indulge in tasty treats while soaking in the magical atmosphere. It’s more than just a sight to behold—it’s a sensory experience that promises to refresh the spirit and create lasting memories.
Be sure to check the special event website for the latest updates, as weather conditions may cause alterations to the schedule or planned activities. This campaign not only celebrates the beauty of Tokyo's spring but also encourages residents and visitors alike to reconnect with nature and experience the hidden gems of the city during this enchanting season.
