This collaboration will see the implementation of practical marketing events aimed at students, scheduled to occur four times a year. The first event is set to take place on March 13, 2026, with subsequent events planned for June 2026.

Background of the Initiative



In recent years, the digital marketing landscape—particularly social media marketing—has evolved beyond theoretical understanding. Professionals now require robust strategic design and execution skills. Unfortunately, opportunities for students to engage with real-world business challenges in a marketing context have been scarce. Recognizing this gap, NAVICUS aims to leverage its experience in supporting companies and local governments with social media strategies, providing students with practical learning opportunities that develop the next generation of marketers.

Moreover, maintaining ongoing connections with students will enable mutual understanding of values and thought processes, fostering relationships that can benefit future hiring activities. NAVICUS’s CEO, Kazuya Takeuchi, himself a Waseda alumnus, is eager to give back to the university community that played a pivotal role in his own development.

Event Overview



The marketing events will adopt a hands-on program format, encompassing lectures, group work, and presentations. Participating students will tackle actual business problems by formulating social media strategies, while receiving direct feedback from NAVICUS staff and guest companies, allowing them to experience practical marketing thinking firsthand.

During the inaugural event, representatives from NAVICUS’s major clients were invited to provide foundational lectures on social media marketing. Following these lectures, students engaged in group discussions to develop their strategies, culminating in presentations and critiques. Working with real products from client companies incentivized the students beyond mere brainstorming, prompting them to evaluate “feasibility” and “strategic coherence”—elements critical in the professional sphere.

Highlights from the First Event



Approximately 30 students participated, collaborating in teams of five to develop their marketing strategies. Each team was tasked with identifying target audiences, selecting appropriate social media platforms, and designing compelling messages, all mirrored against real-world processes. Beyond practical application, the event also fostered theoretical understanding through lectures on the significance of word-of-mouth marketing and strategic design methodologies.
