Our Lady of Guadalupe Named Patroness of ASCEND Eucharistic Revival Event in 2026

Our Lady of Guadalupe Chosen as Patroness of ASCEND Eucharistic Revival

The ASCEND Eucharistic Revival's Executive Committee announced today that Our Lady of Guadalupe will be the Patroness for the event taking place on May 16, 2026. This decision resonates deeply with the rich history and tradition the Catholic Church upholds for this revered figure, recognized as the "Woman of the Eucharist," and the "Patroness of the Americas". Father Nicholas Wichert, the Ecclesiastical Advisor for the ASCEND Eucharistic Revival, emphasized that this choice reflects a broader spiritual vision fostered by Pope St. John Paul II's exhortation, which accentuates Mary's role in guiding believers towards Christ.

The apparitions of Our Lady of Guadalupe, stemming from 1531 near present-day Mexico City, represent a pivotal moment in the evangelization of the Americas. She appeared to St. Juan Diego, delivering messages of warmth and encouragement that resonate powerfully even today. Her miraculous tilma, rich in symbolism, is a reminder of the profound connection between Mary and Christ, emphasizing her motherhood and mission to bring the Redeemer to humanity.

Father Wichert remarked, "The blessing of our Blessed Virgin Mary’s appearance in Guadalupe nearly 500 years ago cannot be understated. Her titles speak to the critical, maternal role she plays in God's salvation plan. She continues to attract souls striving for truth to her Son, Jesus Christ, through whom we find our true purpose and path to communion with God. We are privileged to have her as our Patroness and trust that her intercession will guide participants to a deeper relationship with Christ in the Eucharist."
