The SGX30-2: A Game Changer in AI Server Technology



The centerpiece of Compal's presentation, the SGX30-2, is built on the advanced NVIDIA HGX B300 platform. This powerful system leverages the NVIDIA Blackwell architecture and accommodates eight NVIDIA Blackwell Ultra GPUs that are interconnected using fifth-generation NVIDIA NVLink technology. Furthermore, it is equipped with dual Intel® Xeon® 6 processors tailored for intensive AI model training, inference, and high-performance computing (HPC) operations.

In terms of core performance, the NVIDIA Blackwell Ultra GPUs stand out by offering a staggering 2.1 TB of HBM3e memory and 1.8 TB/s bandwidth between the GPUs, delivering an exceptional total interconnect bandwidth of 14.4 TB/s. Such specifications enable low-latency, high-speed access to extensive datasets, paving the way for businesses to conduct high-throughput training and efficient inference computation on a single hardware platform. The integration of intelligent DMA (Direct Memory Access) offload capabilities and advanced data-path designs transform NVMe (Non-Volatile Memory Express) storage systems into memory-like extensions, culminating in faster data access without escalating CPU workloads. Further extending beyond individual racks, RDMA facilitates the movement of data across clusters and even global data centers using InfiniBand or RoCE (RDMA over Converged Ethernet). This empowers large-scale memory disaggregation, creating a more unified and resource-efficient infrastructure from current PCIe systems towards a future that embraces GPU direct storage and CXL-enabled architectures.
