Taylor Heise's Partnership with Upper Deck
In an exciting development for sports memorabilia, Upper Deck, a leading name in sports collectibles, has recently added Taylor Heise to its prestigious roster of athletes. This partnership marks a significant step forward in celebrating the talent within women's sports, particularly in the Professional Women's Hockey League (PWHL). Heise, known for her remarkable abilities on the ice, was the first-overall draft pick in the PWHL in 2023, and she plays as a forward for the Minnesota Frost.
This new deal grants Upper Deck exclusive rights to produce a variety of trading cards and memorabilia that showcase key milestones in Heise's expanding career. Fans can look forward to seeing her prominently featured in the much-anticipated PWHL First Edition physical trading card set, scheduled to hit store shelves on January 22, 2025. This collection follows the successful launch of Upper Deck's digital trading card sets in 2024, which celebrated groundbreaking events such as the inaugural puck-drop of the league and postseason awards.
Jason Masherah, president of Upper Deck, articulated the company's vision, stating, "Hockey and collecting share a common theme: community. We take pride in highlighting athletes like Heise who are breaking barriers and inspiring future generations through our collectibles. This initiative aims to strengthen the hockey community by celebrating the love of the sport and honoring the exceptional stories of these athletes."
The PWHL First Edition set is positioned to honor the achievements of its athletes, encapsulating the spirit of excellence that Heise represents. Her accolades include winning the Patty Kazmaier Award as the top player in Division I Women's Ice Hockey in 2022, leading her college team to numerous victories, and playing a vital role in guiding the Minnesota Frost to the 2024 Walter Cup victory, also earning the title of Ilana Kloss Playoff MVP. Not only that, but Heise also contributed significantly to her national team by securing a gold medal at the 2023 World Championship.
In Heise's own words, she expressed her disbelief at the strides women's sports have taken, saying, "Growing up, I never would have thought there would be an opportunity for women playing professional sports to have the spotlight. The fact that this is now a reality, and I'm one of these players featured on trading cards, is unbelievable. We are not only making history but also creating a stronger community of fans and collectors who can connect and celebrate through our stories."
Collectors are encouraged to keep an eye out for the inaugural PWHL trading card set, which will be available at Certified Diamond Dealers starting January 22, 2025. Additionally, special Game Dated Moments cards highlighting Heise's remarkable achievements and notable moments on the ice will also be offered through Upper Deck's e-Pack platform.
