2024 PHBS-CJBS Global Pitch Competition Highlights
The 2024 PHBS-CJBS Global Pitch Competition recently concluded its grand final on December 5th at Peking University HSBC Business School (PHBS) in Shenzhen, China. This prestigious competition was co-hosted by PHBS and the Cambridge Judge Business School (CJBS), featuring remarkable innovations from startups around the globe.
Competition Overview
Launched in January, this year’s competition attracted a staggering 506 startup projects. After a rigorous screening process, 36 teams advanced to the semifinals, culminating in the thrilling final where the top 10 startups showcased their innovative technologies to a panel of expert judges, including distinguished scholars, seasoned investors, and successful entrepreneurs.
Winners and Innovations
The competition saw a diverse range of startups specializing in fields like artificial intelligence, biotechnology, and new materials. Following intense presentations, several awards were presented. The third prize was awarded to Zhiwei Data, YUANWEISHIJIE, BrainThink, SIPIMO Technology Group, Wayo, and XZD Material Technology. The second prize winners included I2Cool, Synphage, and Daosheng Biological (Shenzhen) Co., Ltd.
Taking home the first prize was Shanmu (Shenzhen) Biotechnology Co., Ltd., founded in 2021 in London. This innovative startup focuses on AI technologies designed for health management, providing a groundbreaking and automated spectral robot that performs over ten quantitative analyses of urine molecules—a significant advancement in personal health monitoring solutions.
Bay Area Entrepreneurship Forum
Alongside the competition, the event hosted the PHBS-CJBS Bay Area Entrepreneurship and Venture Capital Forum, during which a strategic partnership was established among PHBS, the China-Britain Business Council (CBBC), and the Hong Kong Trade Development Council (HKTDC). This initiative aims to strengthen international cooperation and propel high-quality development within the innovation ecosystem of the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area.
The forum featured two insightful roundtable discussions. The first, titled 'Vision for the Future Business Breakthroughs and Transformations in the New Era,' included discussions surrounding topics such as 'Industry + AI' and the imperatives of innovation and transformation in contemporary business practices. The second roundtable, 'Enterprise Innovation Development and Venture Capital Trends,' presented critical insights on investment strategies, decision-making frameworks, and the utilization of innovative practices to enhance productivity.
As the grand final came to a close, excitement filled the air with the announcement of the next PHBS-CJBS Global Pitch Competition for 2025, promising another exceptional season for early-stage technology teams and further advances within Shenzhen's '20+8' industrial clusters.
