Create Delicious Banfan with Calrose Rice!

The USA Rice Federation's Japanese representative office, based in Virginia, is excited to announce a promotional campaign running from December 4 to December 22. This giveaway aims to spread the word about California's unique Calrose rice and its potential in creating the popular dish known as Banfan, or mixed rice.

What is Banfan?

Banfan, a delightful dish that evokes the current Biriyani trend, was conceived by Shunsuke Inada, the head chef at the renowned South Indian restaurant Eric South. The inspiration for creating Banfan came from Chef Inada's encounter with Calrose rice, which is known for its light texture and compatibility with various oils and seasonings. His vision transformed the traditional Chinese dish Banmen—made by mixing noodles with local ingredients—into a new rice-based alternative, thus giving birth to an innovative menu item.

Inada has designed six different types of Banfan, varying in style from Western to Japanese, to ethnic cuisines. The combinations of ‘deliciousness’ with Calrose rice are virtually limitless. This campaign encourages consumers to unleash their creativity and try crafting their own versions of Banfan.

Campaign Details

• - Prizes:

- 400g of Calrose rice for 100 winners
- Among these winners, three will receive a Bauer Pottery bowl
- Twenty-five winners will get a Calrose kitchen timer.
