Celebrate Golden Week with 'Kids Day's'!

This Golden Week, on May 3rd, 4th, and 5th, Machida Yakushi Pond Park will transform into a wonderland for children with its special event, 'Kids Day's.' Sponsored by NEST Machida, this event offers a host of activities where young ones can play, learn, and develop their creativity in a natural environment.

A Fun-filled Schedule

Throughout the three days, children of all ages can engage in various workshops tailored to spark their interest and imagination. From treasure hunts to craft-making sessions, there’s something exciting around every corner!

On the final day, May 5th, the event will feature a unique children’s mikoshi (portable shrine) experience, where local kids can participate for free. This children’s mikoshi, donated by the historical Fujinodai housing complex, promises a culture-rich experience, allowing children to engage with traditions in a fun way.

Workshop Highlights

Join the thrilling treasure hunt to dig up beautiful gemstones like amethyst and aquamarine! Participants can also observe the sun's surface using a special telescope for just a small fee of 100 yen.

• - Keychain Making: Create your own keychain by engraving leather with illustrations or messages for 300 yen.
• - Kids’ Nail Art: For kids under elementary school age, let them enjoy nail art using professional-grade polish, starting at 800 yen.
• - Koinobori Dyeing: Experience dyeing your own carp streamers with indigo dye. Choose your favorite color for 1500 yen.
• - Wood Toy Making: Craft your own mini camera or wooden car for a memorable keepsake.

The following workshops will be available on May 4th and 5th too, from handprint art to custom crayons.

Concerts and Performances

The event features a lineup of free concerts that will enchant families. On May 3rd, catch the family concert by Kazenotani Ensemble and enjoy traditional Hawaiian hula performances. Other highlights include storytelling through songs, local folk music shows, and a nostalgic taiko drumming workshop.

A Perfect Day Out

The park also boasts a café, `44APARTMENT Yakushi Pond`, offering locally sourced vegetables and delicious dishes showcasing the flavors of Machida. Families can enjoy the scenic beauty of the park, with its vast grass fields and serene landscapes.
