GAC's Achievements in Battery Technology
On December 29, 2026, a significant exhibition titled "Forging the Path to National Strength: China’s Manufacturing Achievements According to the 14th Five-Year Plan" was officially inaugurated at the National Museum of China. This exhibition showcases over 300 stories of national success, including contributions from GAC, whose advanced engineering teams have developed both the Magazine Battery and the Solid-State Battery, which were highlighted in the exhibition.
Magazine Battery: A Leap in Safety
The GAC Magazine Battery is a groundbreaking energy solution that has passed rigorous safety tests, including the nail penetration test and non-flammability assessments. This battery employs ultra-high safety cells, an active safety monitoring system both in the vehicle and on the cloud, and a multifaceted safety protection system, offering a three-tiered approach to safety: core, active, and passive protections. Its safety performance significantly exceeds the upcoming requirements for electric vehicle drive batteries set to take effect on July 1, 2026 (GB38031-2025).
Currently utilized in 1.3 million vehicles, the Magazine Battery has successfully completed over 50 billion kilometers of operation without a single instance of spontaneous combustion. This remarkable safety record provides users with a reliable assurance of safety on every journey.
Solid-State Battery: The Future of Energy Storage
The high-capacity Solid-State Battery developed by GAC has achieved an energy density of more than 400 Wh/kg and has successfully passed stringent safety tests, including thermal chamber assessments and nail penetration tests at temperatures up to 200°C. This advancement effectively addresses users’ concerns regarding range anxiety and safety issues.
Through innovative materials and processes, GAC's Solid-State Battery has set new industry standards in key metrics such as safety, energy density, and lifecycle longevity. This battery provides an exceptional energy solution for the future development of New Energy Vehicles (NEVs). Additionally, GAC is in the process of establishing a pilot production line capable of mass-producing vehicle-grade solid-state batteries exceeding 60 Ah – a vital step towards full vehicle integration by 2026.
Commitment to Innovation
Over the years, GAC has continuously enhanced its competitiveness through innovations in intelligent connectivity, NEV power technologies, and forward-thinking solutions. Looking towards the horizon, GAC aims to further bolster its efforts in developing intelligent, connected NEVs, leveraging technological advancements to propel the industry forward. With a commitment to safety and innovation, GAC is not only reshaping energy solutions but is also contributing significantly to the sustainability initiatives in the automotive industry.
