Enhancing Store Networks: Buffalo's Wi-Fi Solutions for Super Centers

In 2023, Buffalo Inc., headquartered in Chiyoda, Tokyo, has announced a transformative partnership with PLANT, a company specializing in the integration of supermarkets and home centers across Japan. PLANT has adopted Buffalo's top-tier Wi-Fi 6 compliant network devices, notably the WAPS-AX4 access points, to enhance its store network and streamline operations. The decision to switch to smartphone-based order and inventory management has resulted in a consistent Wi-Fi connection for 20 to 30 devices per store, necessitating a comprehensive review and upgrade of their existing network infrastructure.

The WAPS-AX4 access point offers impressive capabilities, with speeds up to 1201+573 Mbps, ensuring a stable and efficient wireless environment crucial for PLANT's operations. As part of this initiative, three out of the 14 targeted stores have already completed the installation of the advanced Wi-Fi systems, while the remaining locations will gradually follow suit, further optimizing their network capabilities.

In addition to the WAPS-AX4, PLANT is also utilizing Buffalo's Layer 2 Giga PoE powered smart switches, BS-GSL2016P and BS-GSL2008P, which provide essential connectivity for a variety of devices within their stores. The BS-GSL2016P features 16 ports with a price tag of ¥71,280 (excluding tax), while the 8-port BS-GSL2008P is priced at ¥38,280 (excluding tax). These products are designed to handle the growing demand for connectivity as more devices are integrated into their operations.

The collaboration between Buffalo and PLANT exemplifies how technology can be leveraged to modernize retail operations, enhancing both efficiency and customer service. As technology continues to evolve, the need for robust and reliable network solutions becomes increasingly vital. Buffalo’s commitment to providing state-of-the-art networking equipment will undoubtedly contribute to the ongoing success of PLANT’s business model, allowing them to remain competitive in the rapidly changing retail landscape.
