91st China International Medical Equipment Fair (CMEF) 2025
The 91st China International Medical Equipment Fair (CMEF) is the world's most significant event dedicated to medical devices, set to unfold from April 8 to 11, 2025, at the National Exhibition and Convention Center in Shanghai. This grand edition will not only display innovations but also feature over 5,000 global brands, attracting more than 200,000 visitors from across 150 countries.
Since its inception in 1979, CMEF has evolved into a comprehensive platform for the global medical technology industry, showcasing technological innovations, product launches, corporate networking, brand promotion, academic exchanges, and trend analysis. This year, industry leaders like United Imaging, GE Healthcare, Mindray, Philips, Shinva, and China National Medical Device will present a multitude of products, underlining China’s growing influence in medical technology innovation.
China’s medical device sector has solidified its position as a global leader with over 34,000 companies and a vast portfolio of more than 301,639 valid registrations and applications for medical devices (as of June 2023). Notably, domestic products dominate the market, accounting for over 91% of total registrations, while imported products make up the remaining share.
The rapid growth of this sector is propelled by demographic changes, rising incomes, an increasing health consciousness, and strong government support. Between 2014 and 2024, the National Medical Products Administration approved 315 innovative medical products—272 from domestic manufacturers and 43 from international entities across six countries.
Key Innovations on Display
This year’s fair will showcase several outstanding innovations that reflect the future of medical practice:
- - AI-Powered Healthcare Assistants: Leveraging technologies such as voice recognition and embodied intelligence, the innovative uAI Avatar assistant will interact with healthcare professionals, aid in device operation, and fetch crucial information, enhancing efficiency and accuracy in medical practices.
- - An Obesity Treatment Option: The Gastric Bypass Stent System, which is endoscopically inserted into the duodenum and the upper jejunum, mimics the effects of gastric bypass surgery without altering gastrointestinal tract anatomy, thus reducing nutrient absorption and aiding in weight loss.
- - Advanced Materials for Hip Prosthetics: Components made from zirconia ceramics produced through cyclic high-low temperature sintering processes will reduce sintering temperatures while improving grain boundary diffusion, marking a significant advancement in hip replacement technology.
- - Cutting-Edge Tele-surgery Technology: The emerging endoscopic multi-port surgical robot has shown impressive advancements and is capable of performing complex level-4 surgeries, as confirmed through clinical trials.
CMEF stands as the most comprehensive platform in the medical technology realm, bringing together the latest advancements across a wide array of sectors including AI, medical robotics, and big data applications. The CMEF’s Distributor Alliance Club will introduce tailored matchmaking sessions designed to create seamless connections between distributors and manufacturers.
