Major Upgrades for Buffalo's Photo Backup App
Buffalo Inc., headquartered in Chiyoda, Tokyo, has announced an updated version of its free app,
Photo Backup, designed for iOS and iPadOS. This application allows users to backup their iPhone and iPad photos and videos effortlessly to external storage. With this new update, a series of enhancements were made, primarily focused on the thumbnail display speed, ensuring a more efficient user experience.
Enhanced Thumbnail Loading Speeds
One of the standout features of this latest update is the significant improvement in thumbnail loading speeds. Previously, when loading about 10,000 thumbnails, users would face a wait time of approximately 12 seconds. However, thanks to the recent updates, this duration has drastically reduced to about 1 second. It’s important to note, though, that if a user has thousands of thumbnails accumulated over a month, loading times may occasionally be slower.
This update was tested on an
iPhone 15 Pro running iOS 17.7.2 with an
SSD-SCT1.0U3-BA storage device.
Backup Reminder Functionality
Another notable feature introduced in this update is the backup reminder functionality. The app will now notify users if it has been seven days since the last backup, ensuring that users do not overlook their data security. In addition to this, the app now enables functionality for scaling and zooming in on photos in full-screen mode, enhancing the overall interaction with the app. Users can also view a list of registered USB storage devices while waiting for storage connection, making it easier to manage their backups.
User-Friendly Free Application
The
Photo Backup app is designed to connect seamlessly through the USB-C port of the iPhone. This allows users to efficiently back up their photos and videos without facing any hurdles, making the whole process smooth and user-friendly. The application is exclusively available for iOS and is not compatible with Android devices. Since its launch, the app has surpassed 100,000 downloads within just four months, indicating its popularity and effectiveness among users.
