Sungrow's Energy Storage Solution for Poultry Farms in the Netherlands

In a significant move towards optimizing energy efficiency, Sungrow, a leading name in solar energy technology, has equipped a poultry farm in Lage Mierde, Netherlands, with its state-of-the-art Commercial and Industrial Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) known as PowerStack. This initiative aims not only to optimize energy costs but also to amplify the benefits of the existing solar installation at the farm.

The Quirijnen poultry farm consumes around 100 MWh of energy annually, while simultaneously producing approximately 750 MWh from its solar energy system.

Innovative Energy Management Strategies

Ward Schoenmakers, the owner of the poultry farm, emphasized the need for innovative solutions like energy storage systems to enhance operational efficiency. The integration of the PowerStack allows the farm to capitalize on energy price fluctuations by storing electricity when costs are low and selling power back to the grid when prices rise. This strategic position not only fosters a new stream of income for the farm but also aids in stabilizing the energy grid, thereby making it more resilient.
