Alfanet to Make History as First Japanese Sponsor at Aloha Festivals

Alfanet's Historic Participation in Aloha Festivals

In a groundbreaking move for Japanese enterprises, Alfanet Inc., based in Tokyo and led by CEO Shintaro Kanno, has announced its official participation in the renowned Aloha Festivals, an event that celebrates Hawaiian culture and tradition for 79 years. This festival, which began in 1946, attracts tourists from all around the world and showcases the rich heritage of Hawaii.

Scheduled to take place from September 20 to 21, 2025, Alfanet’s initiative—named the "Japanese Hawaiʻi Friendship Stage & Aloha Clean Day"—marks a significant milestone in the company’s history, as it will serve as the main organizer of an event for the first time. The company's philosophy of "Creating What You Love" will shine through in its commitment to promoting diversity and sustainability via culture-oriented experiences and environmental conservation projects in one of the world's top tourist destinations.

The Japanese Hawaiʻi Friendship Stage will be held on September 20 from 18:00 to 21:30 at a special stage designated on Kalakaua Avenue in downtown Honolulu as part of Aloha Festivals Ho‘olaule‘a. Visitors can look forward to performances by beloved personalities such as Kimo Kahoano, a long-time host of the Merrie Monarch Festival, and Kamuela Kahoano, an award-winning artist celebrated at Nā Hōkū Hanohano Awards (Hawaii’s equivalent of the Grammy Awards).

Additionally, there will be dynamic hula performances from various Hālau (hula schools) including Hālau Hula Coco and Kēhau ʻOlu I Kakahiaka, as well as a performance from Kela's Paleoʻonalani Polenekia Hālau, showcasing the talent of local Hawaii hula dancers. The event will culminate with a collaborative performance between a multi-talented resident, Sasha, and a ukulele team from Nā Mea Kūpono, an NPO that blends Hawaiian culture with education, featuring both local children and Japanese participants.

On the following day, September 21, Alfanet will join forces with local residents and tourists for the Aloha Clean Day, promoting "Mālama Hawai‘i" (to care for Hawaii), and advocating for responsible tourism. This beach-cleaning initiative is aligned with the SDG goals of creating sustainable cities and responsible consumption, reinforcing the idea that visitors should feel a sense of responsibility towards the future of the destinations they explore.

Alfanet is collaborating with a range of supportive organizations, including JTB, Ito En, Tsuburaya Music, Horipro, ZETTON INC., Murakami Sports, and Kona’s, among others, to execute a project that honors the cultural backgrounds of Hawaii and Japan, ultimately fostering a coexistence between tourism, the local community, and corporate activities through sustainable practices that go beyond mere partnership.

In anticipation of the 80th anniversary of Aloha Festivals next year, Alfanet aims to scale up its initiatives further while also continuing to explore new ventures globally, championing cultural exchange and contributing to a sustainable future.
