In a significant development within the taxi industry,
Denno Transportation, headquartered in Tokushima City, has recently secured a contract to manage ride dispatch services for the
Tokyo Unified Taxi Association (TUA). This partnership, set to begin on
November 1, 2025, reflects the growing need for efficient taxi dispatch solutions in response to various structural challenges currently faced by the sector.
The Tokyo Unified Taxi Association represents over 3,200 individual taxi operators in Tokyo's 23 wards, as well as Musashino and Mitaka cities. As a vital component of Tokyo's public transportation system, the association has been grappling with multiple issues, including driver retention, maintaining effective dispatch systems, and adapting to the increasingly diverse needs of passengers.
In recent years, TUA has faced difficulties in securing dispatch operators, leading them to implement automated voice systems during busy daytime hours on weekends and holidays. This move targeted the pressing need for a more flexible and stable dispatch system that could better accommodate the growing inquiries from users. Hence, discussions around creating a new operational model for dispatch became crucial, resulting in the decision to engage an external contractor. Denno Transportation was chosen for its proven track record in managing ride dispatch services for taxi companies nationwide.
Under this new agreement, Denno will handle ride requests and dispatch instructions during specified peak times on weekends and holidays (from 6:00 AM to 10:00 PM) within the Tokyo metropolitan area. By leveraging their extensive expertise and operational history in the taxi dispatch sector, Denno aims to provide high-quality service that meets user demands while supporting the stable operational framework for taxi operators within TUA.
