Tokyo Kimono Show 2026: Experience the Soul of Japan
The Tokyo Kimono Show 2026, organized by the Kimono Future Council and the Tokyo Kimono Show Executive Committee, will take place from April 17 to 19, 2026. This grand event will be hosted in the Nihombashi Ningyocho area, attracting an audience of around 15,000, making it one of the largest kimono events in Japan. The theme for this year’s show, “New Japan Return: The Kimono Heritage,” aims to present a blend of tradition and modernity through a variety of exhibitions and programs.
A Three-Day Journey into Kimono Culture
Spanning over three vibrant days, the event will transform the historical Nihombashi Ningyocho area into a hub for kimono culture. The main exhibition will occur across five venues: Sunrise Building, Tomizawa Green Building, Dagen Building, Blooming Nakani, and Marujo Annex, in addition to 23 surrounding satellite venues. This event not only preserves the rich tradition of kimono-making but also infuses contemporary sensibilities, creating a new cultural narrative that will be passed on to future generations.
The Tokyo Kimono Show aims to demystify the kimono, presenting it not just as a special garment, but rather as an accessible and enjoyable aspect of Japanese culture. Visitors will be able to experience the beauty of kimono through various activities and exhibitions, fostering a deeper appreciation for this timeless art form.
