KeyBank Appoints Drue Anderson as New Retail Banking Head to Drive Future Growth

KeyBank has made a significant leadership move by appointing Drue Anderson to head its Retail Banking division. This transition is set to bring a new phase of growth for the bank's retail services as they aim to enhance client experiences and drive market share. With over 25 years in the banking sector, Anderson's extensive background is expected to play a pivotal role in achieving these objectives.

Anderson joins KeyBank after an impressive tenure at JPMorgan Chase, where he was instrumental as the Divisional Director of Consumer Banking and as the Head of Virtual Banking. His leadership was marked by a strong focus on scaling retail operations, boosting customer satisfaction, and fostering client relationships. “Drue has a proven track record of scaling retail banking operations, growing market share and delivering strong business results,” expressed Victor Alexander, Head of Consumer Banking at KeyBank. This endorsement highlights the confidence the bank has in Anderson’s ability to take retail banking services to new heights.

Before his role at JPMorgan, Anderson had significant experience at Citibank, where he adopted various leadership roles, including regional director and financial advisor within the wealth management branch. He consistently contributed to double-digit growth in both balances and revenue, showcasing his strategic abilities.

Central to Anderson’s strategy at KeyBank will be his commitment to disciplined execution and enhancing the client experience. He will succeed Kevin Sloan, who is retiring at the end of the year. Sloan's tenure has been marked by strengthening the retail banking division, setting a solid foundation for continued growth. Recognizing Sloan's contributions, Alexander stated, “We are grateful for his many contributions to our clients, teammates and communities.”

Anderson, who hails from Central Illinois, has relocated to Zionsville, Indiana, and will operate from the KeyBank office in Indianapolis. He is set to work closely with Sloan for a seamless transition through the end of 2026, ensuring that retail banking operations continue to run smoothly during this change.

This appointment is not just a change at the helm; it signifies KeyBank's commitment to advancing its retail banking sector. Positioned as one of the largest bank-based financial services in the U.S., KeyBank holds assets of approximately $191 billion as of June 30, 2026. It offers a comprehensive suite of services including deposits, loans, cash management, and investment services. The bank operates through approximately 950 branches and 1,100 ATMs across its 15-state territory.

With Anderson at the forefront of retail operations, KeyBank is set to meet its long-term strategic commitments while focusing on better client experience and efficient execution. As the financial services industry continues to evolve, the banking community will be keenly watching how Anderson uses his wealth of experience to lead KeyBank Retail Banking into its next chapter.
