PrePass Mobile App Launches in Maine

In a recent move that promises to enhance the efficiency of the trucking industry, the PrePass Safety Alliance has officially launched its innovative weigh station bypass Mobile App in the state of Maine. This pivotal launch marks a significant expansion of PrePass services across the Northeast, now extending to a total of 46 jurisdictions.

The new app introduces five strategically located PrePass-equipped weigh station sites along the crucial I-95 corridor. These sites are designed specifically for qualified commercial trucks, allowing them to bypass weigh stations at highway speeds—thereby reducing delays, saving fuel, and supporting the efficient movement of freight. The new bypass sites include:

• - Pittsfield NB
• - Sidney SB
• - York NB

Notably, this development has been made possible through collaboration with the Maine State Police Troop K's Commercial Vehicle Enforcement division. The app operates by securely communicating a truck's safety and credential information directly to participating weigh and inspection facilities. Drivers can receive a simple instruction on their mobile device indicating whether to bypass or pull into the station.

Furthermore, the introduction of the PrePass system adds an essential layer of visibility for law enforcement, while simultaneously fostering the growth of Maine's freight economy. In partnership with Troop K, which consists of state troopers and civilian motor-carrier inspectors, the focus is on enforcing federal and state size and weight regulations while conducting safety audits and compliance reviews of local motor carriers.

Lieutenant Randall Keaten of the Maine State Police Commercial Vehicle Enforcement Unit remarked, "The integration of PrePass systems keeps Maine moving forward, leveraging technology to enhance both roadways and industry partners’ safety."
