Celebrating the Joy of the Holiday Season with Cheerful Stamps
Holiday Cheer Stamps Unveiled
On September 13, 2025, the U.S. Postal Service (USPS) launched its latest seasonal offering, the "Holiday Cheer" stamps, at the Smithsonian National Postal Museum. In this delightful reveal, four unique designs celebrate the festive essence of the holiday season, aiming to spread joy and cheer with every card and letter sent.
In attendance was Michael J. Elston, USPS Vice President of Labor Relations, who emphasized the importance of the upcoming holidays and how these stamps can bring a sense of warmth and festivity. He stated, "With colder days and longer nights approaching, these stamps offer a fresh and festive way to brighten up our holiday cards and letters, in turn, brightening the lives of our friends and loved ones."
Each stamp design lovingly reflects traditional holiday themes, using elements that have been cherished in holiday celebrations for generations.
Design Highlights
1. Traditional Fruits: The first design showcases a beautiful arrangement of a yellow Bartlett pear, a red pomegranate, and a clementine, all nestled against an evergreen tree branch. This illustration honors the long-standing practice of decorating with fruits and greenery, an appealing tradition that graces holiday festivities.
2. Wreath Design: The second stamp features a charming wreath composed of green leaves, holly berries, and tied together with a resplendent red bow. Wreaths and floral arrangements, filled with colorful seasonal fruits, play an essential role in winter decor and serve as a food source for birds and wildlife during this chilly season.
3. Cardinals in Mistletoe: The poignant imagery of two crimson cardinals perched on a mistletoe branch is the centerpiece of the third stamp. These vibrant songbirds, often seen against a backdrop of snow-covered trees, are synonymous with winter holidays and serve as joyful symbols in festive card designs.
4. Amaryllis Blooms: Lastly, the final design celebrates three striking scarlet amaryllis flowers, elegantly tied with a red ribbon. Known for blooming during the winter months, amaryllises are not only a popular gift for the holidays but also symbolize enduring beauty, with some plants thriving for up to seventy-five years.
Created by artist Denise Fiedler, the artwork for the Holiday Cheer collection was crafted using gouache and acrylic paint on paper that comes from a vintage gardening book. Each image was carefully cut and assembled onto an archival cotton board, resulting in a beautiful and vibrant representation of the holiday spirit.
